What is...

What is Resource Therapy?

Action-Based Model: Developed by Professor Gordon Emmerson, RT is a structured clinical parts-work model featuring 15 distinct treatment interventions.

Direct Communication: Unlike traditional talk therapy that speaks to an "intellectual" part, RT allows the counselor to speak directly with the specific part that needs help.

The Goal: The purpose of RT is to move "Pathological" states (parts that cause distress) back into a "Normal Condition" to promote internal harmony.

What is a Resource State?

A Personality Part: A Resource State (or "Resource") is a distinct part of your personality developed through childhood experiences and repetitive coping skills.

Physiological Foundation: When we repeat a skill, the brain grows according to that stimulation; axon and dendrite growth create a physical part with its own intellectual and emotional traits.

A Map of the Self: We all have different parts that come forward in different situations—some hold our creativity and strength, while others carry pain or outdated strategies.

What are the States of the Personality?

Normal States: Healthy parts of the personality.

Vaded States: Parts that exhibit unwanted or painful emotions.

Retro States: Parts that exhibit unwanted or self-sabotaging behaviors.

Conflicted & Dissonant States: Parts that are conflicted to the point of anxiety, or situations where the "wrong" part is in control of the conscious mind.

Why Choose This Approach?

Own Diagnostic System: Resource Therapy utilizes its own specialized diagnostic map, identifying exactly which of the five states (Normal, Vaded, Retro, Conflicted, or Dissonant) is conscious and where the distress lies.

Targeted Resolution: By diagnosing the specific part holding the problem, we bypass the intellectual "talkative" mind and address the personality part that needs change directly.

Clinical Alignment: While using its own unique methodology, the model aligns effectively with international diagnostic standards like the DSM-5 and ICD-11.

Speed and Sustainability: Because the interventions are specifically matched to the diagnosed state, the transformation is often more rapid and stays in place longer than generalized talk therapy.

Taking My Own Path

Taking My Own Path

I didn't start my career in my twenties, and I didn't have a neatly planned professional life from the beginning. I started later. For years, my life was defined by the reality of raising my three daughters—one who has left the nest and two who are still at home. With three children with disabilities, my days were, and still are, about action, presence, and keeping everything moving forward.

During those years, I didn't spend time on a traditional career path—or so I thought. In reality, I was managing doctors' visits, coordinating treatment plans, and navigating complex support systems. I focused on the wholeness of my family and our survival as a unit. This experience eventually led me toward studying psychotherapy, which I am currently pursuing. As I got older, I simply reached a point where I wanted to start my own career. It wasn’t a complicated decision; it was just time for me to walk my own path as a teacher and counselor.

Finding What Works

There are many approaches out there, and for me, the spiritual path became one of the first major turning points. As I began navigating my professional life, I became a certified Psychology Counselor. That foundation led me toward advanced training in regression therapy and hypnosis, which ultimately pointed me toward my current psychotherapy studies.

Along this way, I came across Resource Therapy, and I was struck by its precision and speed. It quickly became my go-to method. The more I used it, the more my client base grew; people loved this way of working because it eliminated the "feeling bad" after a session. It is a powerful, precise tool that gets straight to the point. It changed my direction and led me to become a teacher. Now, I pass on this effective way of working to others who—like me—value clarity, speed, and results that actually last.
